Akis Zambartas – the founder and owner of the winery – is one of the brightest representatives of the business community in Cyprus. For decades, he was a director of KEO, the biggest wine-maker on the island. In 2006 he decided to establish his own winery, which now has very good position on the Cyprus market. Today Zambartas is one of the precious gems, which is deservedly appreciated by connoisseurs.

Akis Zambartas studied oenology in Montpellier (France), from where he brought the experience, which was successfully connected with his knowledge of winemaking. His son, Markos, followed the steps of his father and graduated from the legendary School of Agriculture, Food and Wine at the University of Adelaide (Australia). During studying in Australia Marcos Zambartas met his wife Marleen, who brought her enthusiasm to the family business. Visiting Zambartas winery, you can feel, how many love and patience members of the family put in the development of their business. It has allowed Zambartas become one of the leading wineries in Cyprus, whose wines are constantly becoming conquerors of the Cyprus and international awards.

Zambartas winery located in Agios Amvrosios (Limassol) at the 575 meters above sea. It is Krasohoria region, which is dedicated on the wine routes of Cyprus Tourism Organization under number 4 route.

Grapes are supplied either from the own vineyards (Maratheftiko, Semillon, Lefkada, Yiannoudi) or from the local vineyards. Annually around 60 000 bottles of brilliant wine are produced at the winery. Zambartas wines are valued by high-class hotels and restaurants (Londa 5*, Four Seasons 5*, Le Meridien 5*, Thanos Hotel Group, Hilton, Columbia and other bright representatives of Cyrpus business community) and wine boutiques.

Xinistery dry white, 12% и Semillon Sauv Blanc, 12,5% should be specially mentioned among white wines.

Xinistery is a pale straw wine, showing much lifted lemon and melon scents on nose with a faint hint of nutmeg; very young, fresh and bright with a charming, juicy lemon and grapefruit initial flavor and a surprisingly sustained but soft, gentle, clean finish for its lightness of texture.

Semillon Sauv Blanc has palish green colour; immediate, small hint of nutmeg on quite a closed nose at present; the dry, crisp, very clean cut palate is beginning to show some delicate and attractive citronella, wax a lemon zest flavours and good length. This wine should open up well from early Autumn onwards.

Among rose wines Zambartas Rose should be mentioned. This is brilliant pink and red with bluish overtones; very lifted, blueberry and blackcurrant scents are instantly charming. Full bodied, rounded yet crisp flavors with excellent length and clean finish and stacks of berry fruit running right through it. It is fabulous with meze.

And last, but not the least – red wines – Maratheftiko, 13,5% и Shiraz Lefkada, 14%.

Maratheftiko is very youngful with good colour, some pretty allspice and vanilla oak overlaying very bramble, blueberry black pepper aromas; very silky initial texture, sustained flavours of blue fruits and oak spice; quite feminine structure but showing a discreetly firm grip on the finish; very elegant and well balanced.

Shiraz Lefkada is very dense wine with young colour; lifted, open, complex nose with some cool spice notes of allspice and nutmeg over all the blue fruits: blueberry, bramble and black cherry. Intense and complex fruit, spice flavours marrying well together; big, quite tannic structure but beautifully handled. Will benefit from further time in bottle.
